MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE
To maintain the efficiency & safety of your vehicle it should be serviced at regular intervals. Intervals vary for each make & model of vehicle, refer to your service book or contact us for information on the correct type of service due & manufacturer specified intervals. We only use service parts from reputable suppliers made to O.E standards, if required, genuine manufacturers parts can be used. Changes in legislation in 2003 mean that it is not compulsory for a vehicle to be serviced by the main dealer in order to maintain your warranty. Providing the manufacturer service schedule is adhered to, services can be carried out by any garage without voiding your vehicles warranty.
We follow the manufacturers service schedule and will ensure that the correct checks & replacements are carried out at the correct intervals for your specific vehicle, updating your vehicles digital service record (DSR) accordingly. We recommend vehicle owners adhere to their vehicle manufacturers scheduled services. This will ensure that your vehicle does not miss certain items that are not usually part of a set service such as transmission oil services, brake fluid changes and timing belt replacements.
We do not carry out your vehicle’s MOT test on site but we can arrange for your car to be tested. We sub-contract all of our MOT tests to a nearby test station. The benefit of this is that the test station has no reason to unnecessarily fail the vehicle, as we would carry out any required MOT test fail work.
A vehicle that has been regularly serviced & maintained to the manufacturer’s specifications should pass the test, although please bare in mind that items can deteriorate between services and tests.
The MOT test certificate confirms that at the time of the test, without dismantling it, the vehicle met the minimum acceptable environmental & road safety standards required by law. It does not mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the length of time the certificate is valid.
The MOT certificate is also not a guarantee of the general mechanical condition of your vehicle. The test does not cover the condition of the engine, clutch or gearbox which is why routine servicing is so important.
